We focus on deep technology and work closely with innovative businesses ranging from ambitious start-ups to some of the world’s most recognised technology companies, helping them protect valuable innovations in highly competitive markets. The Role

We have an exciting opportunity for a Trainee Patent Attorney – Semiconductors & AI Hardware to join our London office. Working directly with partners and clients, you will help protect innovations in advanced computing, semiconductor and communications technologies for organisations ranging from ambitious start-ups to some of the world’s leading technology companies. You will work alongside experienced attorneys advising clients at the forefront of technological innovation. The role will involve drafting and prosecuting patent applications, developing intellectual property strategies, and helping clients protect commercially important inventions.

As a boutique firm, we offer early responsibility, direct access to clients and close mentoring from experienced attorneys throughout your training. From the outset, you will be exposed to a range of technologies and clients. The role will involve inventions relating to advanced semiconductor design, photonics, microelectronics, AI hardware, wireless communications and next-generation computing technologies.

About You

You will have, or be expecting, a PhD in semiconductor design, microelectronics, photonics, physics, electronic engineering or another relevant technical discipline.

We are also interested in candidates who have developed detailed technical expertise through hands-on industrial experience in these fields, even where they do not hold a PhD. Experience or a strong interest in semiconductor architectures, AI acceleration, wireless communications, signal processing, high-performance computing or related technologies would be particularly advantageous.

You will be intellectually curious, enjoy analysing complex technologies and have excellent written communication skills.
