A highly regarded London based intellectual property practice is seeking an experienced Chemistry / Pharmaceutical Patent Attorney to join its expanding life sciences and chemistry team.

This is an opportunity to work with an impressive and diverse client base ranging from innovative start-ups and spin-outs through to multinational pharmaceutical and chemical companies. The London based role offers exposure to cutting-edge technologies across the Pharmaceutical, Chemical and Medical space.

The successful candidate will advise on a broad spectrum of UK and European patent matters, including:

  • Drafting and prosecution of complex chemistry and pharmaceutical patent applications
  • Strategic IP portfolio management
  • Freedom-to-operate and patent landscape analysis
  • EPO oppositions and appeals
  • Supplementary Protection Certificates (SPCs) and patent term extensions
  • Due diligence

The team is particularly well known for its commercially focused approach and deep understanding of the pharmaceutical product lifecycle, helping clients maximise the value of their IP assets from early-stage innovation through to market exclusivity and revenue optimisation.

Candidates should ideally have:

  • Qualification as a UK and/or European Patent Attorney
  • A strong academic background in Chemistry or a related discipline (PhD preferred)
  • Experience handling pharmaceutical and/or chemical subject matter
  • Strong client-facing and strategic advisory skills
  • Experience before the EPO, including oppositions and appeals, would be advantageous
