Meissner Bolte is a Pan-European Intellectual Property law firm headquartered in Germany. The UK office is based in Hebden Bridge in West Yorkshire, between the cities of Manchester and Leeds. Hebden Bridge is set within the recently established South Pennines Park in the rolling hills of Yorkshire.

Meissner Bolte UK is a small and expanding office and currently comprises four patent attorneys (two of whom are based at least partially in Germany) and three trade mark attorneys. We also have three full time paralegals and an administrative assistant as part of our UK backroom staff. We are looking to continue to expand the UK office. In total Meissner Bolte has over 80 attorneys across Europe and so we are one of the larger firms with experience and expertise in many different technical fields. This has been acknowledged both in the Financial Times and in the Legal 500.

Our clients include companies at the forefront of research into disinfection in clinical settings, solving complex problems relating to building structure and the use of cladding, and formulating improvements to home security. The majority of our clients are medium sized UK businesses. This means that we have close and direct contact with the majority of our clients. We also receive some agency work – the majority of which comes through the German arm of Meissner Bolte.

Our attorneys are very familiar with the UK and European qualification process, and so can offer invaluable help and training towards becoming a UK and European qualified patent attorney. This is a challenging process and typically takes 4-7 years depending on the speed at which the successful applicant wants to approach the exams.

We are looking for an applicant in the field of the physical sciences (preferably physics) and/or engineering (preferably mechanical, general, aeronautical or electrical) who wants to continue to utilise their technological background, but in a field outside academia. We are keen to hear from applicants who are bright, enthusiastic and good communicators. The successful applicant will find themselves challenged every day working at the boundary between technology and the law. The successful applicant will also find themselves able to enjoy the wonderful local surroundings – in a setting most unlike those of other trainee patent attorney positions in the UK.
