We have an opportunity in our sector-leading Life Sciences group for a trainee patent attorney. The successful candidate will receive the training, support and guidance necessary to qualify as both a UK and European Patent attorney.
The successful candidate will join a vibrant team, working with and learning from leading individuals in the field, and having contact with a full range of clients from start-ups and spin-outs to large multinational corporations. The work will be varied and will include freedom-to-operate work, oppositions, appeals, opinion work, as well as drafting and prosecution before the EPO, UK IPO and internationally.
Applicants should possess a good degree in a Life Sciences-related subject area, such as, Biotechnology, Cell Biology or Biochemistry, ideally with a good grounding in Chemistry also, or with a cross-disciplinary background bringing together IT and Biotechnology. Candidates should also be eligible to work in the UK. Although not essential, some proficiency in French, German, Chinese or Japanese is desirable.
