Deadline

30 Oct 2015

We are currently looking to recruit a trainee for our thriving life sciences group located in our London office.  Our London head office of about 35 people is located in the legal district of Holborn. Our life sciences group handles patent work for UK and overseas companies and other organisations, ranging from universities and healthcare providers to large multinational corporations.

Patent attorney work is interesting and varied, including working with inventors and clients to guide them through the complex process of obtaining patent protection for their inventions in the UK and worldwide, and advising clients on their rights. It combines legal and technical issues in a commercial context and offers a challenging and rewarding career.

Abel & Imray is committed to providing excellent training, reflected by a strong record of success in professional examinations. Trainees are encouraged to obtain their Foundation qualifications through attendance at the four-month Queen Mary Certificate in IP Law course in London, for which the firm will meet tuition fees and living expenses.

Candidates should have a good first degree or PhD in molecular biology or a related discipline and an interest in antibody technology.  A strong background in chemistry would also be an advantage. Experience of working in the industry would also be of value. An excellent command of the English language is important.

The closing date for applications is 30 October 2015, with a view to a start date no later than Autumn 2016.
