Leading European intellectual property firm working with some of the world’s most innovative organisations is keen to welcome an experienced Patent Secretary to join their friendly Biotechnology team on a 12-month fixed-term contract. The opportunity

As a Patent Secretary, you’ll provide dedicated PA and administrative support to ensure the smooth running of this stellar practice. You’ll play a key role in managing priorities, maintaining client relationships and supporting complex patent administration within a busy, fast-paced team.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with previous patent support experience who enjoys working independently while being part of a supportive and friendly team.

What you’ll be doing

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing full PA and secretarial support to Patent Attorneys within the group.
  • Managing busy diaries, inboxes and meeting arrangements.
  • Coordinating international travel and itineraries.
  • Preparing and amending correspondence, patent specifications and legal documentation.
  • Producing invoices and supporting the billing process.
  • Preparing official forms for UK, European and international patent applications.
  • Monitoring patent deadlines and prompt lists using Inprotech.
  • Liaising with clients, foreign associates and patent offices.
  • Managing electronic case files and maintaining accurate records.
  • Supporting the preparation of papers and bundles for oral proceedings.
  • Assisting with general administrative tasks to ensure an efficient and high-quality service.

About you

You’ll bring:

  • Previous experience as a Patent Secretary, Patent Administrator or Legal Secretary within an intellectual property team.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise competing deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • A proactive approach with excellent attention to detail.
  • The ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with colleagues.
  • A positive, flexible and client-focused attitude.

Experience with systems such as Inprotech, Aderant, SharePoint and Microsoft Office are highly desirable.
