WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

We are seeking a fully qualified attorney with up to 5 years PQE to join our Electrical, Electronics and Software team. The role will be well suited to an attorney with a technical/scientific background including physics, physical science, electrical engineering, electronics or computer science, and who has the aptitude to handle work in the telecommunications and audio/video compression fields. Experience of European prosecution work in these areas is beneficial but not essential.

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing exceptional service for an existing portfolio of clients. Experience and enthusiasm for business development would be an asset as we are looking for candidates who have a genuine interest in developing client relationships and in growing the business.

Key responsibilities:

You will play an important role in our team, with a focus on European patent prosecution for a prominent US based multinational client. This work centres on telecommunications, audio/video compression and related technologies such as AR/VR, autonomous driving, biometric sensors and AI. Additionally, you will be involved in drafting and international patent prosecution for a multinational client specialising in IT solutions for the air transport industry. Your work will also encompass a diverse range of patent activity, serving both direct clients and agencies in the electronics, electrical engineering, software and fintech fields.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Proactive engagement in EPO prosecution, demonstrating a deep understanding of client technology and commercial interests
  • Attendance at oral proceedings
  • Collaborative work with clients and inventors to develop effective patent filing strategies
  • Drafting of patent applications
  • International patent prosecution and portfolio management
  • Active involvement in various business development activities
