Carpmaels & Ransford are delighted to be hosting their Virtual Open Day on 7th September 2021.
If you are attracted by the prospect of joining a firm at the forefront of intellectual property law, the day will provide you with an exciting insight into the career of a patent attorney.
You will hear from a variety of people at different stages of their career journeys from across our practice groups, and we encourage questions throughout the day. In an informal setting, the event provides an invaluable opportunity to explore the profession and discover more about life at the firm.
As well as some presentations and an interactive activity, you will receive helpful hints and tips for joining the profession.
Who should apply?
To train as a patent attorney, you must have a STEM degree in a relevant technical discipline. Further information on degree requirements can be found on our careers website. You will be working towards, or have obtained, an excellent first degree (minimum 2:1 or equivalent) complemented by strong A Levels (typically 3 at grade A or equivalent) and a passion for science and technology. With an excellent command of both written and spoken English and a meticulous eye for detail, you enjoy analysing and conceptualising complex matters, with a passion and aptitude for problem solving.
How to apply
When submitting your online application, please select the most relevant practice group based on your degree. Further information on degree requirements for the profession can be found on our website. If you are uncertain, we will ensure your application is directed to the most suitable practice group.
We typically welcome approximately 50 students to our virtual open day, with preference given to individuals in their penultimate and final year of study.
As we receive a high level of interest in the event, we encourage those who have been unsuccessful to apply for future opportunities. This includes our summer internship and trainee patent attorney programmes.
In accordance with our equal opportunities policy, we will provide equal opportunities to any employee or job applicant, and will not discriminate either directly or indirectly because of race, sex, sexual orientation, transgender status, religion or belief, marital or civil partnership status, age, disability, or pregnancy and maternity.
