Do you want a job working at the cutting edge of technology? Do you like the idea of working for a range of the world’s leading technology companies, all at the same time?  Then read on. We might have the role for you.

We are Kilburn & Strode, one of Europe’s top intellectual property firms. We are looking for a new trainee to work in a team specializing in protecting inventions in the software and electronics sectors.

Kilburn & Strode is one of the best places to work in patents and trade marks and we have an excellent reputation for training. It’s not only our IP expertise that we are well known for though, whilst we win plenty of awards for the excellence of our IP advice we also win awards for the performance of our in-house rock band.  That’s the kind of firm that we are.

So, who do we work for? We act for a number of large well-known multi-nationals from around the globe.  We also work closely with top academics at some of the UK’s best universities, and provide strategic advice to some really exciting high-growth tech companies.  There is one thing that links all of these companies though – they are all developing cutting edge technology and they want only the best quality advice to protect that technology.  They chose us because we work side by side with them to make the complex world of intellectual property simple – straight talking advice that works in the real world. Our clients rate us highly and this is reflected in our standing in the top-tier of all four leading industry directories.

So who are we after for this role? Someone with excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to reason clearly and logically both orally and in writing.   You should also be able to work as part of a team whilst taking responsibility for what you do. Technically, we are looking for someone with experience of and a passion for computing.  Academically, you will need to have or expect to get a good undergraduate or post-graduate degree in computer science, software engineering, electrical or electronic engineering, or a related discipline.  Candidates bringing real-life industry experience are encouraged to apply.  You should also have a desire to continue learning because there are many exams that need to be taken on the way to qualifying as both a UK Chartered patent attorney and a European patent attorney.  Candidates must be eligible to live and work in the UK. Please see our website for further information about our Patent Career Programme.

We offer what we believe is one of the best benefits packages in the business, which includes flexi-time working, contributory pension scheme, private medical cover and a host of other flexible benefits.

Preferably, we would like you to be free to start your employment in September 2014 or earlier. Please click on the ‘apply now’ button to send your CV with a covering letter to Ms Hannah Shearwood, by the closing date of 17 January 2014, quoting reference TAS2014 IT2.

Selected candidates will be invited for interviews on 1 February 2014.
