J A Kemp is a leading European IP firm, with approximately 240 people based in our offices in London, Oxford, Cambridge and Paris.

We have one of the largest concentrations of biotech patents expertise in Europe and represent clients in all areas of biotechnology including plant science.  We have been closely involved with patenting in the agricultural sector for decades, beginning with work for major players in the crop protection sector and, since the early 1990s, in plant biotechnology. We act for one of the world’s largest agri-science businesses and also act for a variety of other company and university clients in relation to food crops and other plants.  We handle work in areas including transgenic technology and new breeding techniques such as CRISPR gene editing.  We are also active in obtaining Supplementary Protection Certificates (SPCs) for plant protection products and Plant Variety Rights, deploying these alongside agri-tech patents to secure integrated protection for clients’ innovations.

Whilst many of J A Kemp’s patent attorneys joined the firm as graduate trainees, our home-grown talent is complemented by a good number of attorneys who have come to us with experience gained in other patent attorney firms, legal practices or industry. Skills and Qualities

We are looking for a qualified or part-qualified patent attorney with a speciality in plant sciences to join our Biotechnology and Life Sciences team in London, Oxford or Cambridge.  You must be able to produce high quality work, have good written and oral communication skills, enjoy working collaboratively in a team, and be able to organise your workload.
