Have you been thinking about moving positions? But the idea of doing so is, well, just not that exciting? Similar opportunities, similar work, similar life style. Maybe it’s time for a more radical approach? If you are going to move jobs why not move countries too? You could start over completely whilst utilising all of your accumulated skills and experience.

Still reading? Great. New Zealand has one of Australasia’s leading intellectual property firms and as result of recent successes they are enjoying a bit of a growth spurt. The only way to feed this is via new hires and the firm are quite keen on the idea of looking internationally to find suitable candidates. They’re very supportive and will make the transition to a new jurisdiction as smooth as possible with plenty of advice and financial help on offer. The firm are particularly keen on candidates who are European, UK and/or US Patent Attorneys although other jurisdictions may be considered. Candidates should have an academic/technical background in biotechnology.

The role itself is broad and you will enjoy a mix of providing commercial IP advice to clients and well as drafting and prosecution. You will have the deftness of touch to deal with large patent portfolios with accuracy and diplomacy as well as providing assistance with contentious matters. In addition to all of this, you will be comfortable representing the firm online, at events and when meeting potential clients.

The firm offer a great overall salary and benefits package but perhaps more important than even that, are keen on ensuring their team work within a collaborative and inclusive culture with a focus on a work/life balance.
