As maritime navigation becomes increasingly more digitalised, the electronic navigation environment continues to rapidly evolve. With new digital product specifications being developed we are seeking a Digital Distribution Manager to protect the interest of our global partners by managing and developing our distribution and revenue management services. UKHO is an executive agency, sponsored by the Ministry of Defence. We work with a wide range of data suppliers and partners, surveying and charting the world’s oceans in order to develop and serve world leading software and data solutions to commercial shipping companies, navies and maritime organisations. Our products ensure safe navigation and global trade efficiency and support other marine activities including economic development, environmental protection, resource exploration and utilisation, scientific research and security and defence.
The role
The International Centre for Electronic Navigational Charts (IC-ENC) is a collection of Electronic Navigational Charts (ENCs) producers working together to improve navigational chart quality and availability. It is operated by UKHO with services including training and support, validation, distribution and revenue management.
As the Digital Distribution Manager, you will act as the primary source of business and distribution policy related information and advice. You’ll work collaboratively with IC-ENC data providers (usually Hydrographic Offices) and distribution companies, acting as the bridge between these two groups and making autonomous decisions in relation to the day-to day management of these relationships, including approval of new services, resolution of sales report discrepancies and responding to ad hoc queries.
You will also manage the IC-ENC Revenue Management service, which processes over $50 million of revenue annually and will include overseeing the sales reporting systems, invoicing, collection, retaining IC-ENC cost recovery revenue, reporting to IC-ENC members and settlement processes.
Finally, you will be the source of help, advice and opinion on navigation data distribution issues to others in the IC-ENC team, the UKHO and other Hydrographic Offices.
What we are looking for
Key to this varied and busy role will be your knowledge and understanding of the licensing of digital data, including protection of intellectual property and the distribution methods of electronic products. You must be able to display excellent financial and business acumen, developed through experience, ideally including financial and business process auditing.
A core part of this role is managing relationships, therefore strong communication and influencing skills are required as is the ability to make effective decisions.
