This year we are looking for two or three new patent attorneys trainees from a physics or electronics background to work towards qualification as a UK and European patent attorney. New trainees will sit with a qualified patent attorney and assist them with all parts of their work, including drafting and prosecuting patent applications and advising clients about various aspects of intellectual property law. The day-to-day training is supplemented with both in-house and external tutorials which help trainees in their preparations for the professional qualifying exams. The successful candidates will rotate between our four UK offices for the first three years of training.
Good candidates will have a broad-based interest in science as well as specific knowledge in their particular degree field. Excellent communication skills, especially in writing, are vital. Good people skills are also valuable as is general commercial sense. [No prior knowledge of patent law is required.]
