Deadline

31 Oct 2016

Cleveland IP is a well-regarded patent and trade mark firm, with seven partners and nine other fee earners, plus a number of paralegals based in offices in central London and Reading.

We are looking for a graduate in Physics or any Engineering discipline to join the team in our London office.  Strong software skills are a must so that you can work on software related inventions, and a preparedness to work across a wide range of technologies is desirable.  The ideal candidate will have a strong first degree from a top university.  Those people with two or three years’ work experience and/or post-graduate study are of particular interest but this is not a necessity.

You will already be aware that the qualification route to becoming a qualified Chartered (UK) and European Patent Attorney is rigorous. Initially we’ll support you through the four month Certificate in IP Law course at Queen Mary University of London, and afterwards through the examinations process, including attendance on suitable external revision courses.  Meanwhile, of course, you’ll get on the job training while working for a variety of direct clients and on agency work for US and Japanese clients.  Our attorneys have enjoyed a good standard of success in the examinations.

While academic rigour, attention to detail and the precise use of language are important to us, we are looking for more than that. We are looking for people with the confidence to speak at conferences and networking events, and a passion for technology, intellectual property and the people who create them so that you can build relationships with clients and prospective clients from an early stage in your career.
