Career and Lifestyle Opportunities with Schlich

We are looking to recruit one Trainee Patent Attorney, on the life sciences side of the firm.

The vacancy is for someone with a degree in natural sciences, biochemistry, biotechnology, genetics or another life sciences discipline.  The position is for someone to work on the wide variety of life sciences subject matter handled within the firm, ranging from start-ups through agency work to multi party oppositions at the EPO.

You will be expected to demonstrate good interpersonal skills, excellent attention to detail, strong oral and written communication and an ability to work to tight deadlines.

The successful candidates are expected to have an excellent academic record with at least a first or upper second class undergraduate degree.

Based in Littlehampton on the south coast of England we have a dynamic and growing team, currently consisting of eight attorneys and support personnel.  Our location in the heart of the Sussex countryside means staff can have short journeys to work – some walk or cycle.

The firm will provide full training and support towards qualifying as a UK and European Patent Attorney and fully fund the external IP courses required as part of the qualification requirements. We run weekly in-house tutorial all year round; our trainees have an excellent record in professional examinations.

An ability or desire to handle mechanical patent work, and designs and trade mark work would be a benefit. We will offer training in those areas too.

Applications with a CV and brief covering letter should be sent to Amanda Berry.
