Career and Lifestyle Opportunities with Schlich
We are looking to recruit two Trainee Patent Attorneys.
Vacancy (1) is for someone specialising in organic chemistry, specifically small molecules. A PhD in an organic chemistry subject is highly desirable. You will be engaged to work with our small molecule, start-up and drug discovery clients, initially to support partners handling those clients and in time to assume greater management and client-facing responsibility.
Vacancy (2) is for some with a degree in natural sciences, biochemistry, genetics or another life sciences discipline. The position is for someone to work on the wide variety of life sciences subject matter handled within the firm, ranging from start-ups through agency work to multi party oppositions at the EPO.
In both cases, ability / desire to handle mechanical patent work, design work and trade mark work would be a benefit.
You will be expected to demonstrate good interpersonal skills, excellent attention to detail, strong oral and written communication and an ability to work to tight deadlines.
The successful candidates are expected to have an excellent academic record with at least a first or upper second class undergraduate degree.
The vacancies are tailored towards individuals who are training for the UK and EQE examinations. We will also consider applicants who are part qualified or recently qualified or more senior patent attorneys with some degree of following.
Based in Littlehampton on the south coast of England we have a dynamic and growing team, currently consisting of seven attorneys with seven support personnel. Our location in the heart of the Sussex countryside means staff can have short journeys to work – some walk or cycle. We are continually expanding both our client base and our personnel and are looking for an ideal candidate who will enhance our team.
The successful applicants can expect to receive attractive remuneration dependent on level of qualification and previous experience; our trainees have an excellent record in professional examinations and the firm will provide full training and support towards qualifying as a UK and European Patent Attorney.
We are only able to consider applicants who are eligible to work in the UK. As some client travel will be necessary candidates should ideally hold a full driving licence.
Applications with a CV and brief covering letter should be sent to Amanda Berry.
