Dummett Copp has a vacancy for a trainee who will work towards qualification as a Chartered Patent Attorney and European Patent Attorney. Patent Attorneys have a unique combination of a science or engineering background and specialised legal training to help inventors protect their ideas. Candidates should have or expect to have an excellent first degree in physics, electrical engineering, computer science or related disciplines, possibly to PhD level. Postgraduate experience in industry would be an advantage. Candidates must be able to demonstrate a good command of written English, and those with skills in French or German will have an advantage.
Applicants to not need any previous legal training or experience. Full training and support will be provided through on the job training, tutorials in London and at external courses such as the ‘Certificate in Intellectual Property Law’ course at Queen Mary.
