Trainee Patent Attorney / Technical Assistant – Communications Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or Physics.

We are seeking applicants to join our growing patents group (start dates available in September/October 2024).

We are keen to hear from candidates with a background in Communications Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence or Physics. A specific interest held in mobile telecoms, communication and IT is desirable.

You may be a recent graduate or post-graduate, a trainee attorney already working in private practice or you may be in industry; in any case, you are ready for a new challenge!

Irrespective of your current experience, we will provide you all the necessary training to enable you to qualify as a UK Chartered Patent Attorney and European Patent Attorney. Working within Maucher Jenkins’ industry leading patents team at our London or Surrey (Farnham) office, our flexible trainee programme will provide you with all the necessary technical skills, experience and support required to enable you to succeed in your new role.

You will work with interesting and experienced Partners and colleagues – learning from the best –  providing the highest quality of service to our impressive client base.

About you

The right candidate will be a self-starter who likes working as part of a team. You will possess excellent verbal and written communication skills in order to work effectively with our national and international client base; you will have strong time management and organisational skills; and will be able to demonstrate dedication to providing excellence to our clients. You will be a good listener and able to take on board and act on feedback. As Maucher Jenkins is a global firm, we are also keen to hear from candidates with Chinese or German language skills, however this is not essential.

Due to the high academic requirements for this opportunity, only graduates with a minimum 2:1 STEM degree with honours will be considered.
