The Position

This role sits within our Electronics & Software practice group in our London team across a diverse direct client base of growth start-ups, SMEs, Russell group universities, and UK, US and Japanese multinational clients in the fields of quantum technology, artificial intelligence, blockchain technologies, cryptography, telecoms, hydrogen power control systems, photonics, and electronics systems across a wide range of industries, as well as supporting the wider practice group’s clients in consumer electronics, semiconductor technologies, printing technologies and automotive systems.

Main Responsibilities

Day to day you will work with a number of partners and senior attorneys in direct collaboration with clients to understand their businesses, identify IP issues and scope out projects to address them. From competitor monitoring and FTO projects to understand and manage IP risks, to invention harvesting, and drafting, prosecuting and defending patents that protect IP value for these organisations.  We help develop attorneys into rounded practitioners and trusted advisers, with a view to taking a leading role in client engagement and developing new and existing business, so that they are well-placed to build and develop their own client base for the future.

About You

This role would ideally suit someone who is working towards or has recently qualified as either a UK or European Patent Attorney. We would look for someone with experience in, but also a passion for the technological areas this role operates in with a relevant academic underpinning.
