We have an exciting opportunity to work in-house within the Intellectual Property group at GSK supporting Life Sciences. Patent support within the Intellectual Property group is flexible and you could be supporting projects as diverse as vaccines, adjuvants, monoclonal antibodies and platform technologies that span the entire portfolio.
Working in-house at a science-led, global healthcare biopharma company will immerse you in the science, working collaboratively in a fast-moving culture that is ambitious for patients. You will provide proactive support to research sites in Europe and the US, driving the IP strategy and building partnerships across the business. Communication, quality and collaboration are key characteristics required of an in-house Patent Attorney to protect R&D investment in assets as they progress from target to launch.
In this role you will
- You will be involved in educating the GSK business on the value of IP and driving IP strategies for multiple projects.
- Embedding yourself within R&D project teams and working collaboratively with other members of the Intellectual Property group to fully scope out opportunities, risks, breadth of inventions and associated claims.
- You will be expected to be comfortable with a level of autonomy with drafting and prosecuting patent applications, oppositions, due diligence, negotiating legal agreements with external parties, and proactively helping to confront legal risks facing GSK.

We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:
- Qualified Patent Attorney (EPA and/or CPA or equivalent national qualification).
- Significant experience working within Pharma/Lifesciences.
- Degree in life sciences, biology, biochemistry or similar.
- Experience in drafting and prosecuting biopharmaceutical patent applications.
- You will have intellectual ability, integrity, a high level of commercial awareness and professionalism, and the drive to excel as an attorney.
- A team player with strong interpersonal, negotiating, analytical and problem-solving skills.
