What do you want to achieve?

Actively making a difference to the firm, your colleagues and staff – developing an already very successful business to achieve even greater successes.  Progressing through the equity ladder as a respected leader within the firm.

Partner roles are hard to find.  You have likely worked very hard to achieve the one you have and it can be difficult to move as a Partner to another firm.  The expectations are unrealistic, the politics are troublesome, they want you but only with an effective pay cut or you must bring a considerable following which will be a potential anchor dragging you down if it doesn’t deliver on what you promised.

How about you join a firm who want you for who you are, not the cash you bring along?  They want someone who is a leader.  Someone who enjoys training and mentoring, someone who can see where the gaps exist in knowledge and support attorneys to grow.  The firm wants someone who will look for commercial opportunities and be able to present the firm robustly and persuasively to new clients.  You may be better at management or better at business development or great at both, there’s flexibility to fit around what interests you most.

The firm have lots of work so a client following is not required.  They understand you may have a restrictive covenant, or worse the clients you have will be hard to move from your current firm.  None of that will be an issue.  In fact, the firm can move work to best accommodate your expertise, ensuring that you have a portfolio that interests you.
