As much as the pandemic has impacted everyone to some degree in the IP profession the impact has been highly varied from firm to firm, business to business. Some firms put staff on furlough, some cut salaries, some cut bonuses. And then there are a few firms that did none of those things, not only as a point of principle but also because they have been incredibly successful throughout the entire period, lockdown or not.
A resilient response to a pandemic could be an important reason to consider a new opportunity not only for the now but as an indicator of how an organisation may deal with future crises. But it is only part of an overall compelling case.
What else might help? Well, a role being much more commercial, much more client focused could be a good start. Commercial in the sense that you will be considering the value of IP, the entire life cycle of a patent. You will be working with colleagues around the world to find innovative solutions to complex IP puzzles.
Clients could help, working with some of the world’s leading tech companies, those shaping the world to what it is and what it could be. And that doesn’t mean working with them at arms’ length, it will be direct, it will be involved.
This position is so much more than the norm, so much more than what you may be used to. The peer group you be working with, learning from, our exemplary and the scope for career progression is exciting, realisable and financially very rewarding.
We know, moving during a pandemic can seem nerve wracking. But for many of us the pandemic has also been instructive, it has perhaps given you a clearer idea of what it is you may want from your career. This opportunity could be a part of that. It’s different, it will be a challenge, it could be life affirming and will definitely be life enhancing.
