Looking for some real exposure to the world of Intellectual Property?

We are currently looking for talented, ambitious individuals for our 2022 Summer Placement Scheme. Successful candidates will have a genuine interest in wanting to work for us.

What are we offering?

This is a paid scheme; and it is designed to provide successful candidates with a first-hand opportunity to see what it is like to work as a Patent or Trade Mark Attorney. It is a perfect way to get to know us and to give you a chance to see if we are the right firm for you. Over the course of your time with us, you can expect:

  • to meet some of the talented people who make us the firm we are;
  • exposure to the kind of work you would undertake as a trainee, including real client work from day one;
  • to gain an idea of what you can expect from a career with us;
  • to gain a broad and comprehensive view of life as a patent or trade mark attorney;
  • networking and social events.

Throughout your time with us, you’ll be assigned one of our current trainees who will be on hand to assist you. As the scheme forms a key part of our recruitment process, your participation and performance will be monitored throughout.

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for a diverse range of candidates to join us, and we welcome applicants from a breadth of disciplines. The scheme is intended for candidates planning to commence employment in summer/autumn 2023, or earlier.

Academic requirements

Applicants will need to have, or expect to have, a minimum 2.1 result in their undergraduate level degree. For prospective trade mark attorneys there are no specific degree disciplines required; prospective patent attorneys must have a technical degree subject, typically science or engineering.

When?

Our scheme will run from 27 June – 8 July 2022.  Depending on the coronavirus circumstances, and government advice closer to the time, the scheme may run as in-person or virtual.

The deadline for applications is 31 January 2022.  Applications received after this date will not be accepted.
