The Role

Our Technology Team is instrumental in delivering exceptional client services and supporting the firm’s operational excellence. Our commitment to leveraging advanced technologies and fostering a culture of continuous innovation sets us apart. The Project Management Office stands as a pillar of our strategic growth, guiding our ambitious vision with precision and expertise.

Our department boasts a diverse array of professionals, each an expert in their field. Our skilled developers, astute business analysts, robust infrastructure specialists, and dedicated desktop support engineers form the backbone of our technological prowess. Together, they are pivotal in enabling the delivery of outstanding professional advice and client service.

Programme ADA is a major technology transformation programme that will fundamentally change the way our people work. This includes the migration of our Document Management System from SharePoint 2013 to iManage Cloud, the implementation of a new workflow engine, and the deployment of redesigned operational processes for fee earners, Records teams and business services staff.

The Programme Training Lead (PTL) is a critical appointment within Programme ADA. This is not a generic software training role. The PTL will be responsible for designing and delivering a structured, end-to-end training programme that enables successful adoption of the firm’s specific system configuration, operational workflows and redesigned working practices.

The successful candidate will work in close collaboration with Business Analysts and the Programme ADA team to translate future-state process designs into training that equips all user groups with the knowledge and confidence to work effectively in the new environment from day one.

Programme context

Programme ADA encompasses the following workstreams, all of which carry significant training implications:

  • Migration from SharePoint 2013 to iManage Cloud as the firm’s primary Document Management System
  • Implementation of a new workflow engine tightly integrated with iManage, replacing legacy processes
  • Deployment of new operational workflows for fee earners, covering document handling, and correspondence management
  • Redesigned Records team processes, including incoming correspondence management, triage and document filing disciplines
  • Material changes to working practices across the firm, requiring structured change management and adoption support

Training must reflect the firm’s specific iManage configuration and workflow design not generic vendor product training. The PTL will be embedded within the programme and expected to develop deep familiarity with the configured environment before any training design begins.

What You’ll Be Doing

Training strategy and programme design

  • Design and own the firm’s end-to-end training strategy for Programme ADA, covering all user groups and delivery phases
  • Work closely with Business Analysts to understand future-state workflows, process changes and system configuration decisions
  • Identify and clearly articulate the differences between legacy processes and new ways of working, forming the basis of training content
  • Define a structured, phased training programme that maps to programme milestones and go-live timelines
  • Develop role-based training pathways for fee earners, Records staff and business services teams, reflecting the distinct demands of each group

Training content development

  • Coordinate and oversee production of all training materials, including step-by-step guides, quick reference cards, walkthrough videos and e-learning modules
  • Ensure all content reflects the firm’s configured iManage and workflow environment; not generic system functionality
  • Translate complex process changes into clear, accessible learning that non-technical users can apply in their day-to-day work
  • Maintain a controlled library of training assets, updated in line with configuration changes and user feedback
  • Develop scenario-based learning activities that mirror real operational situations faced by fee earners and support staff

Delivery and scheduling

  • Plan, schedule and manage the delivery of training across all user groups ahead of each programme go-live milestone
  • Manage a training calendar that accommodates firm-wide operational requirements, practice group commitments and programme timelines
  • Deliver instructor-led training sessions and facilitate hands-on practice in test environments
  • Coordinate and brief additional facilitators or super-users where parallel delivery is required
  • Manage post go-live reinforcement sessions to address residual gaps and embed sustained adoption

Adoption monitoring and reporting

  • Track training completion across all user groups and report progress to programme leadership
  • Monitor system usage data and adoption indicators to identify areas requiring targeted follow-up
  • Introduce evaluation mechanisms to assess training effectiveness and adjust content and delivery accordingly
  • Provide regular structured updates to the Programme Board
  • Flag adoption risks early and propose remediation actions

Stakeholder engagement

The Training Programme Manager will operate as a visible member of the Programme ADA delivery team and will engage closely with stakeholders across the firm. Key relationships include:

  • Business Analysts: primary collaboration on future-state workflow design and process change documentation
  • Programme ADA leadership: alignment on milestones, configuration decisions and go-live readiness
  • Director of Technology & Innovation: reporting line and oversight of training function
  • Head of PMO: alignment on training and change activities
  • Practice Group leaders and Department Heads: scheduling, engagement and communication
  • Records Team: workflow-specific training design and operational alignment
  • iManage implementation partner: understanding platform configuration and available training resources
  • Technology team: test environment access, system readiness and technical dependencies

  • Demonstrable experience designing and delivering training programmes for major enterprise system migrations, particularly document management or workflow implementations
  • Experience working in close collaboration with Business Analysts or process design teams to translate future-state process changes into training content
  • Strong understanding of the distinction between business process training and generic software training, with experience delivering the former
  • Experience of delivering training across multiple user groups with differing technical literacy and operational roles
  • Background in a law firm, legal services organisation or comparably regulated professional services environment
  • Confident and credible facilitator, able to engage senior stakeholders including partners and department heads
  • Proven ability to manage complex training schedules within structured programme delivery environments
  • Strong written communication skills with experience producing high-quality training documentation

Desirable experience

  • Direct experience with iManage (Cloud or on-premise), including hands-on familiarity with the user interface and document management workflows
  • Experience training on workflow automation tools or BPM platforms in an enterprise environment
  • Familiarity with SharePoint 2013 or equivalent legacy DMS environments, supporting understanding of the migration context
  • Experience using learning management systems (LMS) or training tracking platforms
  • Knowledge of change management frameworks and adoption measurement approaches
  • Experience delivering Microsoft Copilot or AI productivity training

Skills and competencies

  • Ability to rapidly absorb complex process and system information and translate it into practical, user-centred training
  • Strong programme management discipline, able to manage multiple workstreams, prioritise effectively and meet deadlines in a fast-moving environment
  • Collaborative working style with the ability to build effective relationships across technical and non-technical teams
  • Analytical approach to adoption data, able to identify patterns, escalate risks and recommend targeted interventions
  • Self-directed and resilient, comfortable operating with ambiguity during an active technology transformation
  • High attention to detail in training content and documentation quality
  • Commitment to continuous improvement in training standards and delivery effectiveness
